Your general settings tell SimpleKPI how your business counts time. Get them right once and every date, quarter, week number, and scheduled report lines up with how your organisation actually works.

What you can set

All of these live under Settings → General. Each one has a knock-on effect across the app, so it's worth a moment to check them.

  • Default entry frequency — the period a new KPI starts with (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, or Yearly). You can still change it per KPI later.
  • Start of your financial year — the month your year begins. This drives how quarters and week numbers are calculated.
  • Start day of your week — used to work out week numbers accurately.
  • Timezone — your data is stored in UTC and shown in this zone, and the report scheduler fires on this zone's local clock.
  • Country and Currency — your primary country of operation and the currency used to format money values across the app.
  • Preferred language — the display language for the whole app.

Set your time zone

  1. Go to Settings → General.
  2. Open the Timezone picker and type to search for your city or zone.
  3. If your account is still on the UTC default, a Suggested link appears below the picker with the zone your browser detected. Click it to accept.
  4. Click Save.

Set your financial year and start-of-week before you build reports — they change how quarters and week numbers are counted, so getting them right upfront saves re-checking charts later.

The same page carries the Ask Me AI assistant toggle, an account-wide on/off switch for the in-app AI. Only account owners, admins, and analysts can flip it.
