Tags are a flexible way to label your Breakdown items so you can slice reports and charts along dimensions that matter to you. Where a Breakdown answers "which project?", a tag answers "which region?" or "which product line?" — a second lens over the same data.
How tags work
A tag has two parts. A tag category is the dimension (for example, Region), and its values are the options within it (for example, EMEA, APAC, Americas). You apply values to your Breakdown items, and from then on you can filter and group by them anywhere reporting lets you segment.
Segment a chart by a tag
Once your items are tagged, tags become a View-by option on a chart, right alongside Date, Users, and Breakdown.
- Open or add a chart View on a Dashboard.
- In the chart's segmentation control, choose Tag as the View-by.
- Pick the tag category you want to split by.
- The chart re-draws with one series per tag value.
Where to manage them
Tags are managed centrally under Settings → Tags, so you keep one clean, consistent set across the whole account rather than editing them item by item. Define your categories and values there, then apply them where you organise your Breakdown items.
Keep tag categories broad and reusable — a handful of well-chosen dimensions like Region, Team, or Product beats dozens of one-off labels. Consistent tags make every report easier to filter.
