A calculated KPI works out its own value from other KPIs, using a formula you define. It's how you turn raw numbers into the ratios and averages that actually tell the story, like average value per sale or conversion rate, without entering a single figure by hand.

Build a formula

You create a calculated KPI from the same panel you use for any KPI.

  1. On the KPIs page, click Add a KPI (or edit an existing one that has no data yet).
  2. Open the Create a formula panel.
  3. Click Add a KPI to drop an existing KPI into the formula, then use the operator keys to combine them: add, subtract, multiply, divide and brackets.
  4. Choose how the maths is done under Calculate by: either calculate each period first and then aggregate, or aggregate the values first and then calculate.
  5. Give it a name and format, then Save.

For example, Sales Revenue ÷ Number of Sales gives you the average value per sale, refreshed automatically whenever the underlying KPIs change.

Targets on a calculated KPI

Turn on Calculate this target to have the target derived from the formula too, rather than a fixed number you type. When that's on, the plain target field is ignored.

A calculated KPI can't be split by breakdowns, because it derives a single value. If a KPI already has breakdown sets, remove them before making it calculated.
