Some numbers already live in another tool. Connecting a KPI to an app means SimpleKPI pulls the value in for you on a schedule, so you never have to type it in. It's the difference between a KPI you maintain and one that maintains itself.

Connect an app

Connections live in your settings, grouped by category such as Marketing, Finance and Analytics.

  1. Go to Settings, then open the Connections tab. You can also reach it from the menu next to Add a KPI on the KPIs page via Connect to an App.
  2. Choose the app you want to connect, such as Google Sheets or Google Analytics 4, and sign in to grant access.
  3. Pick the metric you want to track. SimpleKPI creates a KPI from it, with a sensible format and frequency already set.

From then on, the connection refreshes the KPI's values automatically on its schedule.

Spotting connected KPIs

In the KPI list, a connected KPI carries a branch icon in the Type column, so you can tell at a glance which numbers arrive on their own and which you enter by hand. You won't see an Add Data button on a connected KPI, because its data comes from the app rather than manual entry.

Connecting is best for metrics that update often and already sit in a supported tool. For a one-off load of past figures, importing a spreadsheet is usually the quicker route.
