A target is the number you're aiming for. Adding one turns a KPI from a bare figure into something you can measure against, and it's what powers the Red, Amber and Green colours you see across the app, in reports and on dashboards.
Set a target
You set a target on the KPI itself, in the same panel where you edit its other settings.
- On the KPIs page, click a KPI's edit button, or click Add a KPI for a new one.
- Open More Options.
- Under Does the KPI have a target?, enter your target value. Leave it blank if the KPI doesn't have one.
- Set the direction so the system knows what good looks like: Up when higher is better, Down when lower is better, or None.
- Click Save.
RAG thresholds
Under the same options you can set your Red, Amber and Green thresholds. These decide when an actual value counts as on track, at risk or off track. The colour bands follow your chosen direction automatically, so a Down KPI like Complaints reads the right way round.
Targets per user and per set
Where a KPI is split by breakdowns, each set can carry its own target, shown when you expand the KPI's sets. Individual targets for each user are set in the manage users area. For a calculated KPI, you can have the target worked out by the formula instead of typing a value.
A target without a direction can't be RAG-rated, so always pair the two. If you only want to watch a trend rather than hit a number, leave the target blank and set the direction to None.
