If you already have your KPIs listed somewhere, importing saves you building each one by hand. SimpleKPI gives you a few ways to bring them in, from a quick paste to a full spreadsheet with history.

Quick Add several at once

Quick Add is the fastest way to create a batch of KPIs when you just have a list of names.

  1. On the KPIs page, open the menu next to Add a KPI and choose Quick Add.
  2. Paste one KPI name per line, then click Add to list.
  3. Each name becomes a row. Set the format, frequency and an optional target for each one.
  4. Click Add to create them all in a single pass.

New rows inherit the format and frequency of the row above, so a batch that's all the same only needs setting once.

Import a spreadsheet with data

To bring in your KPIs and their historical values together, use Import a spreadsheet. Upload an .xlsx, .xls or .csv file and we read it and work out which columns map to which KPIs. You review everything on a summary screen and can correct the mapping before anything is saved. Nothing is written until you confirm.

Start from a template

If you're not sure where to begin, choose Choose a template from the same menu. A template provisions a themed set of KPIs, and a matching dashboard, in one go.

Before a spreadsheet import, put one KPI per column with a clear header row and dates down the side. The cleaner the layout, the more accurate the automatic mapping.
